Course Outline & Objectives: | Commercial Plumbing and Mechanical Systems. This training is based on the International Building, International Mechanical, and International Plumbing codes. Discussion will include key points required by the International Energy Conservation Codes, along with ASHRAE standard 90.1. Some codes and regulations have been adopted from the Hydraulic Institute. The boiler curriculum also discusses local boiler codes, along with requirements set forth by the Utah State boiler inspectors. Local seismic design criteria found in the IBC will be presented to ensure that seismic restraints and anchoring is engineered, installed, and inspected correctly.

Instructor Resume: | Joe Stagg is the Principal Instructor for Pipeline Development Company based in Salt Lake City, UT. Having been “raised in the industry” during his youth, and then returning to the industry shortly after college, Joe has been involved in HVAC system applications for most of his life. He has been teaching the proper principals of HVAC system design, installation, operation, and maintenance over the past 10 years. Most recently, after incorporating Pipeline Development Company in June of 2008, Joe has been teaching expanded training programs revolving around high-efficiency, green technology, and energy conservation in HVAC systems.
Joe has a solid history of working in the HVAC industry, where he has been sizing, specifying, selling, and servicing HVAC equipment for over 20 years. Having worked in the service, sales, and engineering fields within the states of Utah, California, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and Alaska, Joe has first-hand experience in a wide variety of comfort heating and cooling applications.
Joe has had the privilege of being the guest speaker at multiple third-party programs, including those offered by various chapters of ASHRAE (The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers), ASPE (The American Society of Plumbing Engineers), AEE (The Association of Energy Engineers), MCAA (Mechanical Contractors’ Association of America), SMACNA (Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association), and more. Joe also enjoyed his 3-years of work as the primary speaker for the Mestek Institute training programs in Boyertown, PA and Mississauga, ON.
