Course Outline & Objectives:Course Description: Learn about the new requirements for builders and their sub-contractors under the newly adopted 2015 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) which will take effect for new homes with building permits before July 1, 2016. Learning Outcome: 1. Participants will be able to identify what is needed to design and build new homes that meet the new energy code.

Instructor Resume: Mr. Ursenbach works for Salt Lake County Planning and Development Services, currently as the Energy/Mechanical Code Official and ICC Combination Inspector. He retired from HVAC contracting in 2005 after 33 years in the industry. He has worked as a code official for the past 8 years. He currently serves on the Utah Chapter ICC Code Change and Development Committee, Vice President on the RMGA (Rocky Mountain Gas Association) Board of Directors and serves on the Utah UBCC Mechanical Advisory Committee.  He also serves as a member of the ACCA Manual S Advisory Committee, providing guidance to ACCA during the updating of ACCA/ANSI Standard for residential HVAC equipment selection. He is actively involved in the legislative process, focused on issues of; education of the construction trades, zoning, building codes and adoption of current energy conservation codes.  Brent has presented numerous seminars and classes on energy, mechanical and fuel gas code, as well as HVAC design principles.

Mark devotes his time to educating the building industry on the benefits of constructing durable, energy efficient and healthier homes through lectures, video series and publications. By performing on-site visits of builder?s homes, he is able to identify risks and opportunities from an independent perspective. Mark has been an Advisory Board member at Blu Homes and a Technical Advisor to the Cold Climate Housing Research Center in Fairbanks, AK since their respective inceptions. He was awarded the Life Time Achievement Award from the Energy & Environmental Building Alliance (EEBA) in 2005.

Instructor Resume: Justin Wilson, of Construction Instruction, has been a RESNET HERS Energy Rater since 2004, and has been on the technical committee to develop Enterprise Green Communities Criteria since 2007. Justin has been involved with the construction of over 30 net zero energy projects. As the Environmental & Sustainability Manager with McStain Neighborhoods in Boulder, CO, Justin was a key player in designing and developing several of the first production net-zero homes in the US. He now works with national and regional builders on new construction of residential and commercial buildings, as well as forensic investigations on building sites all over North America, to find solutions to problems in the building processes that affect energy, comfort and durability.

He is Past President of the Illuminating Engineers Society (IES) and the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP).
