| Course Outline & Objectives: | Reviewing and understanding construction contracts - Discussion of scope of work, warranties, unique project conditions, payment terms and bonds - Defect and delay claims arising from construction contracts - Managing defect issues and claims, reporting defects and delays - Retention and change orders - Limits on retention, distribution of retention proceeds, retention violations, ownership of retention proceeds - State construction registry - Preliminary notices, notices of commencement, notices of completion, searching parcel information - Utah Lien Law - Lien deadlines, notice content, lawsuit deadlines, negotiating payment - Utah Construction Bond Law - Types of bonds, timing and deadlines for bond claims, communicating with bond companies Will cover the why of risk management and what can be done to mitigate risk on the construction site. The discussion will cover some programs and procedures that have been successful. We will discuss technology in construction and how to keep you company up to date with new changes. |
