Introduction
There are numerous different types of PVC pipe, some of which are acceptable for use inside buildings and some which are acceptable only outside buildings. PVC pipe is common for drains and vent pipes, but less common for pressure pipe within buildings. This course will discuss the various types of PVC pipes that are available and where they may be used, provide information on proper installation procedures, and discuss the fittings that can be used to connect PVC to other pipe materials.
Course Objectives
At the conclusion of the course, participants will:
Understand the types of PVC that can be used for interior plumbing systems, both for pressure applications and for gravity (sewer) applications
Understand the basics of how solvent cement joints are made and some ways to avoid problems with installation of these joints
Understand the types of PVC that can be used for exterior plumbing systems, both for pressure applications and for gravity (sewer) applications
Understand the basics of how bell and spigot joints with gaskets are made and some ways to avoid problems with installation of these joints
Understand the basics of proper trench construction and backfill
