Course Outline & Objectives: | This class offers a brief review of the history of the plumbing code, and the changes that have brought about the current codes we use today including Utah State amendments. Many of the chapters in the 2021 IPC, will be presented and explained. The training will include Sections of the International Fuel Gas Code that apply to the plumbing trade and identify many code violations that are often overlooked by contractors and inspectors. |

Instructor Resume: | Thomas Hicken is an instructor for Bridgerland Technical College in Logan Utah where he has taught the plumbing apprenticeship since 2008. He has also taught numerous Plumber Continuing Education classes for Journeyman and Master Plumbers. He had his start in the plumbing trade in 2001 and has years of experience in commercial new construction, residential new construction and service plumbing giving him a well-rounded view of the trade and the applications of plumbing code. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from University of Phoenix in 2006, earned his Master Plumber license in 2008 and started his own plumbing business in 2010. He knows the challenges and successes of business ownership. Thomas is committed to improving understanding of plumbing code, and ensuring the trade has qualified workers going into the future.
