| Course Outline & Objectives: |
This course was developed to take the student from the beginning basics of motor control to the advanced topics through the use of three distinctive perspectives. The first goal is to familiarize the student with the ability to identify manually-operated input devices and to describe the operation of and applications for these control devices in manufacturing systems along with the operation of and applications for visual and audible signaling devices. Troubleshooting tips and procedures for typical failure modes are also discussed.
Part 1 also covers the identification of contractor and motor starting devices and the description of operation and applications for motor control devices and troubleshooting tips and the procedures for typical failure modes of the motor control devices.
The ability to differentiate and identify the difference between wiring diagrams, schematic diagrams, ladder diagrams, and logic functions is ladder drawing and the ability to describe the functions of each drawing is emphasized in this course.
