| Course Outline & Objectives: | This course was developed to take the move the student forward from the beginning basics of motor control to the advanced topics of motor control. The students begin by reviewing, identifying and differentiating between wiring diagrams, schematic diagrams, ladder diagrams, and the logic function in the ladder drawings. From there the student moves on to learning to identify solid state devices and learns to describe the operation of and the application for these distinct control devices in the manufacturing system along with troubleshooting tips and the procedures for the typical failure modes that can be presented.
The final section delves into programmable logic control (PLC) concepts. The student at the end of this course should have the ability to identify and describe stand-alone controllers and modular PLCs, the integration of the PLC into the motor control system, understand the basic concepts and components of a PLC.
