| Course Outline & Objectives: | Classes are designed to help keep journeyman plumbers up to date in the current code. Some of you receive your license while working under the UPC and while the rest may have tested to the IPC codes. It is hard to keep up with changes without additional education.
At completion of 8 hours of Core and 4 hours of professional education you will receive in these classes.
You will have:
a better understanding of what the current code requires for the installation of the plumbing system.
understanding the theory of how and why the system is designed and how it functions. learn what section of code contains the answers to any code questions.
learn what addendums the state of Utah has adopted and how they affect the current code
learn techniques and practices to enable you to:
communicate effectively with the general contractor, co workers and the other trades
plan an effective course of action working towards the successful completion of the job

Licensed Journeyman Plumber, State of Utah issued 1/11/1983
Adjunct Instructor at SLCC since Spring Semester, 1990 in the Plumbing Apprenticeship Program.
While I have taught all years, I have taught 3rd or 4th year since Utah adopted the IPC codes. Both years curriculum are code intensive preparing the apprentices to take the State exam.
I have held Journeyman licenses in the States of Wyoming, Indiana and Colorado and a Colorado Master since 1979.
A brief work history in the State of Utah includes:
Last 14 years with Shamrock Mechanical, Commercial Department
2 years with Comfort Systems as a PM and running manpower
12 years with ESCO Mechanical as a PM and running manpower
3 years with ESCO Mechanical in the field as a foreman.
2 years with various plumbing companies as a Journeyman.
Held a seat on the Utah State Plumbing Licensing Board from 2014 till 2022 and chaired the Board for the last 5 years. |
