Intro to Solar Installation
Course Description:
This course introduces students to the solar industry and the basic principles of the photovoltaic (PV) system design as well as solar module placement, permitting, inspection, and the economics.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of the course, student will be able to:
1. Describe the photovoltaic market, the primary levels of the PV industry, and how they interact.
2. Differentiate between solar technologies.
3. Explain the preferred placement of solar panels including optimum tilt, orientation, and roofing considerations.
4. Describe the different PV mounting methods.
5. Explain product requirements and specifications for modules, inverters, and other equipment.
6. Describe site and system drawings needed to secure building permit.
7. Describe key elements and labels examined during the inspection process.
8. Explain the costs and economics of solar energy
