Course Outline & Objectives: | We all need to work smarter and focus a little more on the business side of the construction trades. This is a practical, hands-on workshop, reviewing better ways to improve your business, your bottom line, and your job satisfaction. Best business practices make the greatest difference:
(1) Present a Professional Contract and live by it;
(2) Know Construction Law and use it;
(3) Create a Culture of Communication throughout the project;
(4) Maintain Candor of Costs with regular and prompt Invoicing;
(5) Lead out in the Client Relationship showing good reason to trust your good judgment.
Come find your best approach to your construction business and take away skills you will use every day.
The Course will include a brief review of critical Utah Code provisions:
§13-8-1 et seq (Unenforceable Agreements); §58-55-601, 603 (Construction Trades Act); §38-1A-1 et seq (Lien Act); 78B-4-513 (Defective Construction); §38-11-402 (Residence Lien Recovery Act); §78B-2-225 (Statute of Limitations).

Robert Jensen was raised in Southern Utah, worked in his family's construction business, and put himself through undergraduate and law school pouring concrete. He has developed a reputable construction, business and Real Estate law practice, customizing contracts, negotiating transactions and settlements, and successfully prosecuting contracts, liens, bonds and other claims. Mr. Jensen lectures regularly and works with businesses from formation through complex transactions and litigation.
