Course Name:Managing Risk
Course Outline & Objectives:This course is an overview of Utah state Lien law, and the most recent changes. It addresses how to properly file with the state construction registry to maintain lien rights. It provides a detailed overview of important deadlines and filling process. The course explains how to enforce a lien and options for collections in Utah. Knowledge of how the lien process works in Utah is a valuable tool for protecting contractors, this course provides a clear, easy to understand outline of how liens work, what they accomplish, and how best to use them. This class also explains the critical components of contracts and how to use them to keep jobs flowing smoothly and avoid law suits. It is designed for business owners and key decision makers to better understand insurance coverage and exclusions. It specifically focuses on legal requirements and how to comply with state and federal laws. The course provides an overview of the law as it pertains to insurance, and how to manage risk in the most economical manner. The course is filled with examples and real life situations that bring relevance to the information. The course also addresses the many legal obligations associated with the Fair Labor Standards Act. The course will help answer questions like when is over time pay required, should employees be paid for travel time, and how old does someone need to be to work on a construction site.
